That Was Vaudeville
Deerfield Public Library, 12 W Nelson St, Deerfield, WI
You’ll hear music from the heyday to the declining years of Vaudeville (roughly from the Prohibition Era through WWII) mixed with explanations of what Vaudeville was, how it worked, and its cultural impact. Stephen Lee spices it with anecdotes about the stars of the era who went on into films, radio, and television. It’s all rounded out with comedic story-telling and a bit of yodeling (because every good Vaudeville act needed a gimmick). The program runs for one hour and is suitable for all ages. This time around with an emphasis on women in Vadeville.
